60 years of passion: the history of our family oil mill
Dear friends and enthusiasts of Perniola extra virgin olive oil,
We are thrilled and grateful to celebrate a moment of great importance with you: our first 60 years in business. It has been an incredible journey, a path deeply rooted in our family, and today we wish to share our story, our passion, and our enthusiasm for the future with you.
It all began in 1963 with our first oil mill that produced extra virgin olive oil through cold pressing.
In the following years, our family's history intertwined with that of our oil mill. Three generations, with different approaches but a common goal: to carry on the legacy built on fundamental values.
This year, on October 1st, we celebrated these 60 years of commitment and dedication with a special event at our oil mill in Altamura. We were honored to have guests who shared their knowledge and the latest trends in the olive oil sector. Their excellent presentations enriched our celebratory day and inspired us to innovate and improve.
FROM TRADITION TO INNOVATION speech by Pasquale Clemente (SALES DIRECTOR CLEMENTE SRL)
Mr. Clemente, during his speech, expressed his gratitude to us for making a bold and innovative decision in 2020: to modernize our production plant. Initially, this choice raised uncertainties among customers, accustomed to a consolidated production method and the taste of the oil that resulted from it. However, Clemente SRL, together with its team, embraced this initiative with conviction, aware of the benefits it would bring. The objective was clear: to optimize production times and improve the quality of the oil, minimizing oxygen presence along the production line.
The modifications made to the production plant were revolutionary. A cleaning system was implemented to ensure that the olives were clean and free of foreign bodies, ready for the subsequent crushing phase. The old traditional millstone was replaced by a modern crusher, followed by malaxers and a three-phase decanter, which separates pomace water and oil. These improvements generated a clear and significant qualitative enhancement in the oil we produce.
Our oil mill quickly became a benchmark for the entire olive oil sector, thanks to our dedication, hygiene, and attention to detail during the processing. Finally, the commercial director of Clemente SRL concluded his speech with these words: "What honors me and makes me proud is seeing that every year, year after year, the Perniola family, which is now a true company, increases both the number of customers who come to the oil mill to mill their olives and the sale of extra virgin olive oil.
A TASTE OF OUR OIL speech by Nicola Perrucci (HEAD PANEL A. M. E.D.O.O. RECOGNIZED BY MASAF)
Nicola Perrucci's role during the event was that of an extremely informative and detailed speaker. In his speech, he celebrated our company for its 60th anniversary and highlighted the innovations introduced in the oil production process.
Perrucci then shared his personal experience as a panel leader, explaining how this figure is crucial in certifying the commercial classification of oil. He also discussed the mechanical processes involved in oil production and emphasized the importance of preventing oxidation throughout the process. He highlighted the importance of cultivating, harvesting, and processing olives, as well as the need to comply with regulations governing the olive oil sector.
Finally, he suggested the possibility of organizing training courses to deepen the understanding of olive oil production. Nicola Perrucci's intervention was a valuable contribution to understanding this sector and promoting the quality of extra virgin olive oil.
On this extraordinary occasion, we also proudly presented a new product line called: "u zirr," made of ceramic, which reproduces the traditional steel container used to store oil. We are excited to share this new adventure with you and hope you like it as much as we do.
We still have many stories to write together, and we look forward to sharing them with you.
With affection,
The Perniola Family
